Two rescued from car wedged under minivan in parking garage

A bit of an unusual rescue in Silver Spring, MD on Thursday afternoon. Montgomery County Fire & Rescue crews responded to a parking garage in the 900 block of Wayne Avenue around 1:30 PM. There they found a demolished minivan on top of a sedan. The driver and passenger were trapped in the car wedged under the van.

Police were investigating to see if the driver either hit the gas instead of the brake or the accelerator became stuck as the car navigated through the ground floor of the parking lot. The car hit the rear of the parked minivan with such force it destroyed the back end of the vehicle. The front of the car became wedged under the chassis of the van.

Fire and rescue crews stabilized the van and worked to free the two passengers in the car. Both patients were collared and boarded. They were transported with non-life threatening injuries.
