Helmet-cam video: 6 firefighters handle vacant house fire that spreads to occupied building

Helmet-cam video from the fine folks at Fire Cam taken during a fire in East St. Louis, Illinois. The fire was handled with six firefighters on one engine and one ladder. In case you aren’t aware, the department has long been underfunded and understaffed. Here’s the description with the video:

www.firecam.com This was a vacant house fire with an occupied apartment building as an exposure. 1st due had fire thru the roof of the vacant upon arrival and started knocking with a handline and tank water as NO plug was available. 2nd due was able to alert the people in the apartment that the fire had spread to the attic and got them out safely. 2nd due was able to contain the exposure fire to side B in the attic as crews shuttled water. The fire was under control and crews were back in service within 2 hours. A total of 1 engine and 1 ladder with 6 firefighters on scene.
