Remember the video above? When I posted it on May 1 I wondered if this was more of a personal beef between firefighters in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, to include the town’s mayor. Chapter 2 in this story has occurred with the arrest of the videographer, who is also a firefighter. The felony charge is not specifically over the confrontation video but a separate recording that apparently violates Pennsylvania’s two-party consent requirement.
A 19-year-old volunteer firefighter in the borough has been charged with recording a conversation he had with a captain at Anthracite Fire Co. on April 19 without his knowledge.
Don Fillipo Scicchitano, of 229 N. Park St., was arraigned Thursday by Magisterial District Judge William Cole on two felony counts of wiretapping and released on $20,000 unsecured bail.
The charges filed by Lt. David Donkochik accuse Scicchitano of recording a private conversation he had with Capt. Jim Williams Sr. and turning over the audio tape to his father, Carmine Scicchitano, who allegedly forwarded it to Williams’ employer, PennDOT, according to police. Williams is employed as a highway equipment and facility manager.
