A former career firefighter from Prince George’s County, Maryland has been charged with the murder of a firefighter in the Baltimore area. According to PGFD, 35-year-old Daniel Greene of Norrisville, Maryland (Harford County) was employed as a firefighter from 2002 to 2013. Greene is now charged with first-degree murder. Greene’s Facebook page also notes that he worked at PGFD.
The victim was 31-year-old Jon Hickey who had been a volunteer firefighter in Baltimore County and was scheduled to be in the next recruit class for the Baltimore City Fire Department. Baltimore City Police told The Baltimore Sun’s Sarah Gantz and Justin Fenton that the motive for the murder was “domestic related.”
He was arrested around 1 p.m. Tuesday without incident in the 2100 block of Harkins Road in Norrisville, Maryland, police said.
Hickey, 31, had just been accepted to the Baltimore City Fire Academy and he was going to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather.
Hickey’s girlfriend called officers to check on him. City police officers were called Nov. 30 to Hickey’s home for a well-being check and found him dead, suffering from a gunshot wound.
