Police: Driver of ambulance fell asleep — partner partially ejected and killed in crash

Indiana State Police report that an ambulance transferring a mother and child between hospitals this (Monday) morning crashed in Miami County killing one EMT. Police say it appears the driver of the ambulance fell asleep and hit another vehicle. Thirty-two-year-old Mousa Chaban was in the patient compartment and died after being partially ejected from the ambulance. The ambulance had rolled on to its side.

Police say the driver of the ambulance, Christine Wesner, drove through a red light and hit a Dodge Dart. Wesner was not injured. The driver of the Dodge had non-life threatening injuries. Police report the mother and child weren’t hurt, but the woman’s husband in the emotional post Facebook post below, says his wife suffered broken bones.

According to WANE-TV, “Wesner and Chaban were working for Tri-County Ambulance Service based in Wakarusa, Indiana.”
