The house may be gutted, but the sign now posted in front of the burned out home on 49th Street NW in Washington, DC tells the story of the fire there early Sunday better than anything else. Working smoke alarms were the reason eight people and two dogs escaped. A member of the DC Fire & EMS Department riding by the home a few days after the fire snapped the picture.
