Early video and radio traffic from FDNY Response Videos recorded yesterday (Saturday) at a 4-alarm fire at Trump Towers in Manhattan that killed one man and left four firefighter with injuries not believed to be serious. The residential portion of Trump Towers is not required to have sprinklers and does not, according to the New York Times.

New York Daily News:

Todd Brassner was found unconscious on the 50th floor of the posh Fifth Ave. high-rise, authorities said.

He was declared dead at Mt. Sinai-West Hospital.

“The entire apartment was on fire,” said FDNY Commissioner Dan Nigro at a press conference at the scene.

The Trump family’s apartment is a triplex said to extend from the 66th to 68th floors.

New York Times:

The commissioner said the upper floors that are home to residences do not have fire sprinklers. “It’s a well-built building,” he said. “The building sure stood up quite well.”

While the building is subject around the clock to extra security by law enforcement, extra fire protection happens only when the president is there, Commissioner Nigro said.
