Here’s the statement, released this (Friday) afternoon about that wild video of a house fire in Lakeland, Florida that showed a captain/union president, off-duty, in civilian clothes, putting the first water on the fire. According to Deputy County Manager Joe Halman, the complaint was filed by an on-duty battalion chief and captain. Halman’s investigation determined the actions of Captain Jay Schwartz are worthy of ” a commendation rather than discipline.”
