A firefighter was killed Friday after a propane tank exploded during a fire that spread to multiple structures in Tilford, South Dakota.

The blaze started shortly after 4:00pm Friday on State Street in the Tilford area. Fire crews say they were able to initiate an attack on the fire but were hampered by downed power lines along with the presence of a number of propane tanks in the area, at least one of which exploded.
