Drew Tripp, WCIV-TV/ABC News 4:

The North Charleston Fire Department recently rescued a dolphin that had become entangled in a crab pot line.

The rescue happened in late September, according to North Charleston Fire Department spokesperson Laura Kondor.

During the Heart Walk at Riverfront Park September 29, an NCFD captain providing medical coverage saw a dolphin struggling in the water, and said the animal appeared to be very weak.

An NCFD boat crew jumped into action to free the animal, after coordinating with S.C. DNR and the S.C. Marine Mammal Stranding Network.
