And then there were five. Arsonist hits mobile home park in WV.

One firefighter tells STATter 911, “Everytime we looked another one was burning”. That was the story last Thursday night north of Martinsburg, WV when the Bedington Fire Department (Berkeley County Company 40) responded to the Spur Cap Mobile Home Park. An arsonist was one step ahead of them.

The picture above is from The Journal. Here’s how Chris Huntemann starts his story for the paper:

Five different mobile homes were damaged Thursday night at the Spur Cap Mobile Home Park in Martinsburg in what authorities called an act of arson.

Members of Company 40 of the Bedington Fire Department responded to a call at approximately 9:39 p.m. Thursday of a fire at an abandoned mobile home at 30 Concorde St., which is in the mobile home park. However, two minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene, a fire was identified at another abandoned mobile home at 94 Tamarack St., also in the mobile-home park.

Units from company 30 of the Hedgesville Fire Department were called in to help combat the fires. Patrick Barker, a West Virginia assistant fire marshal, said firefighters worked to put out fires at five different mobile homes within the park.
