Push back in Anaheim over smashing car windows at blocked hydrant
Anaheim Fire & Rescue's tweet finds some opposition
We posted this incident to illustrate and educate, not to humiliate anyone. In answer as to why break the windows instead of going under, over, or around the car… it doesn’t work. The hose needs a straight line out of the hydrant. We do not damage property unless it is needed

It looks like the people who handle social media for Anaheim Fire & Rescue have been quite busy thanks to a viral tweet showing images of routing a connection to a hydrant at an apartment fire through a car’s windows. While at first they were answering a lot of news media requests and seeing a lot of supportive tweets, there has been a growing push back among the comments.
Anaheim Fire & Rescue has replied to many of the comments (see samples below) and tweeted yesterday a more detailed explanation of why damage was done to the car.
