This is the resignation letter (above) submitted Tuesday by Polk County (FL) Fire Rescue Capt. James Williams. Williams was the first arriving officer and initially took command during the controversial Novermber 23 fire that killed 76-year-old Lorretta Pickard. Williams was disciplined following that fire for sharing video to Snapchat in violation of department policy.

While reporting on the controversies surrounding that fire, reporters discovered Williams had apparently taken video from at least one other fire and shared it. Polk County Fire Rescue began an internal investigation. In addition, the investigation looked at whether Williams knowingly used the computer for the Criminal Justice Information System. Because of a previous felony, Capt. Williams was barred from accessing that system. Read more from Eric Glasser at WTSP-TV.
