Amy Gerht & Kathy Leigh Berkowitz, The Ledger:
A Polk County Fire Rescue battalion chief pulled two people from their burning home in Polk City Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release from the department.
Battalion Chief Brian Golden was traveling west on State Road 33 when he noticed smoke and flames coming from a home located at 1163 Motorcoach Drive, PCFR spokesman Chris Jonckheer said.
Golden asked if anyone was at the house to the west of 1163 Motorcoach Drive and was told the residents were out of town, Jonckheer said.
