That video is on KGO-TV’s site.) The collapse happens at 1:17 into the video. Here is what Chief Billy Goldfeder at Firefighter Close Calls wrote about the incident:

The SFFD had an extremely close call yesterday morning at a 1 story warehouse in the industrial area of the city. Firefighters were moving out of the collapse zone when the collapse – caught on tape – occurred. The Firefighter suffered a broken leg and clavicle and is in stable condition in the hospital. Our best wishes for a rapid recovery.

From the AP:

Authorities say the San Francisco warehouse fire that led to one firefighter being hospitalized may have started because of illegal activity.

Fire investigators say a converter box had been installed at the warehouse to bypass the electrical meter. Police spokeswoman Lyn Tomioka says that’s a sign the building may have been used for marijuana growing or a clandestine lab.

Investigators are looking at the possibility that the converter box could not handle the electricity load and thus was the source of the fire.

The blaze in the single-story warehouse was first reported at 4:45 a.m. Thursday. A firefighter was hospitalized with a broken leg and burns after being injured when a portion of a wall fell on him. officials say his injuries are not life threatening.
