Second firefighter in critical condition in Lubbock incident
A Lubbock Police officer and a Lubbock Fire Rescue firefighter were killed responding to a crash in north Lubbock Saturday morning, on Interstate 27. Another firefighter is in critical condition.
Emergency crews responded to a crash at 8:19 Saturday morning near mile marker 12 on I-27.
Just after 8:30, while first responders were working this crash, a second vehicle with a trailer traveling south crossed the median and came to rest in the median 25-50 yards south of the first crash.
At 8:50 a.m., a third vehicle traveling south crossed into the median, striking two firefighters and one officer. That vehicle then continued across north bound lanes and came to rest on the embankment.
