This is early video from a house fire along the Route 1 corridor in Fairfax County, Virginia yesterday (Sunday). The man taking the video is the wonderful John Wood, who owns 29 Diner in Fairfax City.
John is not only a longtime and devoted supporter of the fire service in Northern Virginia, he’s always giving back in some form to the community. Yesterday, John was apparently delivering food for a shelter operation when he spotted the fire, made sure the family was out and safe and called 911.
Like every other restaurant owner right now, I’m sure John is struggling. Somehow, that hasn’t stopped him from doing what he does. If you find yourself in Fairfax City when this crisis is over, make sure you have a meal at the 29 Diner.
UPDATE from house fire in the 2500 block of Belleview Avenue: fire is under control. Crews are checking for extension. #FCFRD #FairfaxCounty https://t.co/mrEed4iq3B
