Interesting body-cam video from New Haven, Michigan during a fire at 5:50 a.m. on June 25. A woman and two children were on the second floor sleeping with a fire on the first floor. This shows the efforts of sheriff’s deputies and firefighters to get to the three people. News coverage is here.

From Macomb County (MI) Sheriff’s Office:

Warning: explicit language – actual body camera footage

On June 25, 2020, one of our deputies was on patrol and noticed an apartment with smoke coming out of it. A man and three small children were standing outside and stated there was another woman and two additional children inside. Deputies entered several times to extinguish the flames but could not make it up to the second floor. Several fire departments and EMS units arrived on scene.

The following footage is from the deputy who located the fire. The video in it’s entirety is almost an hour long. We have shortened it to show you the abreviated version of what this incident was like first hand.

We are very proud of the work done by our deputies and the responding fire departments, especially New Haven. Although seconds feel like forever, these volunteers made it from home, to their station, and then to this call in just 14 minutes.

We would like to report that because of efforts of these first responders, no lives were lost during this fire.

Please take some time to review a fire plan with your family and neighbors! Stay safe – we are all in this together.
