You knew it was going to happen. It appears we have our first reported case of fire service ZACSS — Zoom Assisted Career Suicide Syndrome. It comes from a Zoom type meeting on Tuesday between San Juan Island Fire District #3 Board and the Public Hospital District #1 Board in Washington. The meeting was an effort to get fire and EMS integration back on track. That meeting went off the rails when a male fire commissioner was heard saying about one of the female health officials, “Roll the eyes, you bitch”. The apologies are below the story.

San Juan Islander:

The two groups were meeting to figure out a way to get the integration process (San Juan EMS moving to the fire district) back on track. After more than an hour of discussion, the boards had agreed on a list of people to be on the steering committee.

Fire Commission Chair Bob Jarman said Commissioner Frank Cardinale would continue to serve as the fire board representative on the steering committee because of his experience.

The meeting was a video conference. At that point, Cardinale was heard saying,””Roll the eyes, you bitch” apparently directed at PHD Board Chair Anna Lisa Lindstrum.

PHD Commissioner Trish Lehman said, “Did I just hear that. Deeply troubling. How can we have trust if this kind of behavior is occurring. This is unacceptable.”
