A San Francisco firefighter died Wednesday after falling three stories during a drill at a department training facility at 19th and Folsom streets, officials said.
The unidentified firefighter/paramedic, who was assigned to Station No. 3, fell some 30 feet, according to officials. He apparently fell from a ladder during a routine training drill.
Department spokesman Jonathan Baxter called the incident a “training accident,” but did not elaborate, pending the outcome of an investigation. Baxter said a processional is being planned from San Francisco General Hospital to the office of the Chief Medical Examiner, with firefighters lined up at locations on the route.
