I can’t say for certain that the man seen in this video stole a Memphis Fire Department ambulance this (Thursday) morning outside Regional One Hospital. But I don’t have to say it, he does.

The person taking the video started rolling when he saw the ambulance abandoned on the street. Police confirm the same ambulance, 21, was recovered about four miles from the hospital. The videographer did an on the street interview with the confessed thief who claims he was a shooting victim at the hospital who needed a ride home.

Memphis Police say they received an anonymous tip the ambulance would be at Breedlove and St. Charles. More from WMC-TV:

Paramedics stated due to the hospital’s ER ambulance bay being full, they parked the ambulance on the street by the ER with the keys inside and the engine running.

Fire personnel recovered the vehicle and say the ambulance keys, eight ABD pads (guaze) and one pack of Curlex bandages were missing from the unit.
