The initial report was for a kitchen fire. When command signed on the radio and immediately went on scene, he reported heavy fire showing from the second floor of a 2-story Single-Family-Dwelling (S/F/D) and struck out the 2nd alarm. The second alarm companies were Station 30, Ladder 331, 7 and Rescue 141 for the F.A.S.T. company.

Engine 31-12 arrived and stretched a hand line to the front door and up the stairs to the seat of the fire.

Ladder 331 arrived and assisted the engine company stretching the line.

The residents and police officer shoveled out the hydrant that Engine 31-12 used for the water supply.
