DC EMS supervisor shot at as he follows suspects in shootout

Susan Phillips, WUSA9.com:

A wild shootout and chase put a DC Fire/EMS supervisor in the line of fire early Friday morning.

According to Metropolitan Police officials, an EMS captain witnessed a shootout between suspects in two vehicles in the area of 4th and Morse Streets northeast around 12:10 a.m. The suspects then fled the scene, and the captain followed suspects in a white Lexus as they headed south on 4th Street.

When the chase reached the intersection of 4th and K St., one of the suspects in the Lexus fired at the captain. Neither he nor his vehicle was hit by gunfire.

MPD units joined in the chase at 4th and K Streets, which came to an end near the intersection of 12th and I Streets in Southeast when the Lexus crashed into another vehicle. At least two, possibly three male suspects bailed out of the vehicle, and were last seen heading for Potomac Gardens Apartments.

K-9 Units and U.S. Park Police Eagle responded to search the area, however, no one was apprehended.
