Three Florida firefighters injured in lightning strike at house fire

Three firefighters were struck by lightning while extinguishing a house fire on Yamato Road, Boca Raton authorities report.

According to investigators, the firefighters were in the middle of securing a water hose to the firetruck when lightning struck. The force of the lightning was so severe that all firefighters were knocked to the ground and one firefighter was thrown into the bushes.

According to the fire department, the men were standing underneath the eave of the home while extinguishing a fire. When they stepped out from the eave to retrieve the hose, lightning struck nearby, injuring the firefighters.
Officials with Boca Raton Fire Rescue say two firefighters experienced minor injuries and one was transported to Delray Medical Center after experiencing a seizure. There is no word on his condition.
