Fire in Prince George’s County, MD firehouse
Sunday morning fire destroys ambulance and damages Upper Marlboro firehouse
Eight Prince George’s County, Maryland firefighters were awakened this morning after being alerted to a fire. Not much of a story there except that the alert came from smoke alarms in the firehouse. Station 820 was on fire.
The firefighters found an ambulance burning inside the firehouse. Other apparatus appeared to be damaged. Images on this page are from PGFD.
Investigators remain at the scene Sunday. Firefighters may need to relocate so there is no loss of service in the community, officials said.
The station was staffed with career firefighters at the time the blaze broke out, officials said. No injuries were reported.
Due to the incident, the activities for the Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association Convention planned for Saturday, Sept. 16 are temporarily on hold, officials said.
