The IHOP in Fair Lawn went up in flames early Wednesday, just hours after the restaurant closed, authorities said.
A police officer checking on an alarm at a nearby business spotted the fire as the restaurant became engulfed in flames, police said.
Two Fair Lawn Firefighters received minor injuries and were treated at the scene by the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps., police said.
