This is video from a house fire on Saturday at 31 Ivy Place in Rutherford. The fire began in the ceiling of a second floor bathroom and spread to the attic. A report from NorthJersey.com indicates seven firefighters suffered minor injuries. The report also talks about some sort of malfunction of Rutherford's ladder truck, something you will see in the video. An East Rutherford rig was moved into position when the Rutherford truck failed to operate properly.

Here's more from the article by Jaimie Julia Winters:

The equipment, which malfunctioned, is Rutherford's only ladder truck and is 16 years old. A replacement would run about $700,000. It is tested on a monthly basis, said Fire Chief Bob Perez.

"For now we are on mutual aid. East Rutherford will be dispatched for any report of smoke we receive," said Perez.

The fire department does have an account for emergency repairs and the hope is that the truck can be repaired this week.

"If we were able to get up on the roof immediately, it would have made the conditions better for the guys inside and we would have probably knocked it out more quickly," said Perez.
